This year 2023 has crowned the success of certain players who have truly exploded at the highest level. Here are the top 10 of those which have increased in value since January 1st.
The year 2023 will have been special. Last season was cut in two by the World Cup in Qatar. Some players have also used it to assert themselves at the highest level and increase their market value, while others have had to resolve to perform at a club to attract attention. For first place, it won't surprise many people. Jude Bellingham (20 years old) has simply burst into the limelight, already in Qatar with the Three Lions, but especially since his transfer to Real Madrid . Its rating had already increased between November and December 2022 (from €100 to €110 million) but since June, it has simply been madness. The midfielder was recruited for €108 million so his estimated value was €120, and after a fantastic first six months, he is estimated at €180 million. He therefore took €70 million in one year, or 63%.
Zaire-Emery, first Frenchman
Behind the new Madrid star, we find Evan Fergusson. Still unknown a year ago, the Irishman took advantage of the post-World Cup recovery to shine and score goals with Brighton. It went from €1 million to €65 million, a surreal increase of 6400% (+€64 million)! This is obviously the biggest evolution of this ranking but the rest is not bad either. Lamine Yamal completes the podium, who was not yet 16 at the start of the year. Now it has gone from the symbolic euro to €60 million, an increase of 5900%.
Warren Zaire-Emery is the first Frenchman in this ranking and the first representative of Ligue 1 as well . The PSG midfielder took €54 million more in one year, going from €6 million to €60 million on Transfermarket , the equivalent of a 900% increase. 5th, Moisés Caicedo saw his value increase by €52 million (+136%) to reach €90 million after a good World Cup and especially a transfer to Chelsea last summer which he has not really made profitable yet. Tied (+€52M), we find another player who belongs to PSG in the person of Xavi Simons but it is under the colors of PSV and now RB Leipzig that he owes his progress.
Doku slips into the top 10
Just behind the Dutchman, Rasmus Højlund climbs into the top 10. 7th, the Dane is experiencing difficulties with Manchester United but he has indeed revealed himself in 2023 with Atalanta. Its performances earned it €50 million at once (+333%), now reaching €65 million. He will perhaps team up in the second half of the season with Takefusa Kubo, who interests MU for the transfer window . The Japanese from Real Sociedad continues his rise and has increased his value from €12 million to €60 million. An increase of €48 million which allows it to take 8th place.
One row behind, we find a well-known face from Ligue 1 and it was at the end of his career at Stade Rennais that he took off before joining Manchester City and continuing to shine . Jérémy Doku took €47 million in value (+260%) to be set at €65 million. Finally, it is Levi Colwill who brings up the rear of this top 10 with his €45 million more than twelve months ago. Between his loan to Brighton and his start to the season with Chelsea, the defender is part of the best progress of the year. It is now valued at €55 million (+450%).
