Egypt had been holding its breath for over 24 hours. Opposed to Ghana (2-2) this Thursday evening in the group stage of the CAN , the Pharaohs saw their star and captain Mohamed Salah leave them due to injury just before the break. This Friday, the Egyptian federation gave news of Salah, specifying that he would miss the next two matches, against Cape Verde, and in the 1/8 finals in the event of qualification.

“X-rays undergone by Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egyptian national team, revealed that he was suffering from a strained posterior muscle and that he will miss the team's next two matches in this AFCON against Cape Town. Green, then in 1/8th in case of qualification ,” indicates the press release.
